Abstract
The objective of this study is to examine vertically and holistically the effect of the trial of Learning through Discussion (LTD) using the nursing students who registered in a class of School Health (in the faculty of Allied Health) at A University. Making small groups of the students (43 in 2016, and 44 in 2017 accordingly) who had registered for a required subject of School Health the LTD trials were conducted throughout the 2 years of the course sessions. Questionnaire sheets were prepared and a cross sectional research (pre/post/follow-up intervention) was conducted to measure the educational effects. As a result of comparison between pre and post intervention, 1) discussion skills, 2) collaborative effects, 3) communication skills, and 4) self-esteem were scored significantly higher, and these results were consistent at the time of follow-up. In order to examine the results further holistically, two-way (high/low) analysis was conducted at the 3 phases of pre/post/follow-up intervention. As a result, collaborative effects and self-esteem among the “low” group were scored significantly higher and at the follow-up phase as well.
